More to Give: Tapping the Talents of the Baby Boomer, Silent and Greatest Generations
This AARP study indicates that almost half of "Experienced Americans," ages 44-79, have increased or will increase the amount of time they spend volunteering, and most expressed interest in volunteering through faith-based or religious groups, by mentoring or tutoring young people, and by helping older adults live independently. Key barriers to civic engagement include: overly rigid volunteer schedules, lack of time, lack of invitation, and the need to make money.

Youth Give Back, a program of the Youth Philanthropy Project, provides opportunities for the under 18 crowd.

Hands On Greater Richmond connects individuals or groups to one-time volunteer projects with local nonprofit agencies.

Virginia Mentoring Partnership offers training and matching services for those interested in mentoring.

www.HanoverVolunteers.org, Henrico Volunteers and Chesterfield Volunteers offers county-run volunteer matches on their sites.

Junior League of Richmond focuses on training women to become effective leaders and dedicated volunteers in the local community..
